Joyce Rupp's 2003 Schedule

Click on the date or place in the table below for more information about the event. You may also scroll down to see the entire schedule.

About the schedule:

While I do have some conferences and retreats scheduled for the first six months of this year, I am basically taking this year to focus on writing and on personal renewal. This is essential for me if I am to write with depth and quality. Therefore, I am asking that anyone thinking of asking me to speak at a conference or to give a retreat please not do so for 2003. All requests for 2004 will be considered only through invitations sent through this website. Requests for 2005 will not be accepted until after September of 2003. I greatly appreciate the invitations that come my way but I simply cannot accept very many of them due to the time I need for writing. In the meantime, I hope that I can meet many of you who visit this website when you come to one of the following events in 2003.

                                                                                                      -  Joyce Rupp

Scheduled events are conferences, workshops, or retreats. Check with the local contact person listed for more details.

"The Cosmic Dance:
Seeing the Sacred In All of Life"
A One Day Retreat

The compassionate heart is one that is in deep communion with all of creation. This retreat is based on quantum theology which recognizes the interdependence of each element in the universe. It is a call to rediscover and celebrate the Divine Presence moving among all of life. It is an invitation to remember the beauty and graciousness of existence. The day will include a look at contemplation, gratitude, compassion, awareness, and the inner dance of Spirit within us. Participants will be invited to experience the oneness of creation through the Jewish and Christian scriptures, the five physical senses, numerous literary and spiritual sources, varied religious traditions, and their own life experience. The day will include conferences by Joyce, chant, quiet reflection time, journaling, small group dialogue, and creative ritual. Bring a notebook or journal.

National Retreat Movement Conference (NRM)

London, England

This conference is an annual event for those in spiritual direction and retreat ministry in England, Scotland and Wales. While it is sponsored by the Catholic Retreat Movement, the conference is ecumenical and open to all. Joyce will give five or six conferences based on the theme.

"The Liberated Heart"

Thomas Merton writes that when we find our true self we find God and when we find God we find our true self. This finding is a life-long process of authentic personal transformation that leads always to greater compassion and connection with the world beyond self. We are each called to be in the process of personal transformation, yet becoming our true selves is no easy process. We get caught in busyness and non-awareness. We stumble over our doubts and get lost in our confusions. As we seek to be spiritually liberated we meet up with our own weaknesses, difficulties and unexpected turns on the road. What do we do with these barriers and bumps on the path? How do we embrace our gifts? What do we need in order to have a healthy and helpful approach to spiritual freedom? Joyce Rupp will explore the hindrances and the gifts on the journey of becoming spiritually free. She will provide both theory and practical suggestions from a variety of spiritual traditions to explore the process of becoming a more liberated and whole human being.
